Privacy Policy

1. Overview

PartyStream is designed with privacy in mind. We collect very little data, and what we do collect is kept to a minimum. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it is handled.

2. What We Collect

Display name

When you create or join a room, you enter a display name (up to 30 characters). This name is held in server memory for the duration of your session and is discarded when the room closes or the server restarts. It is never stored in a database.

Room activity

Chat messages are relayed through our server in real time. They are not stored, logged, or persisted anywhere. When you leave a room, your messages are gone.

Contact form

If you reach out through our contact page, your name, email (if provided), and message are submitted to Web3Forms, a third-party form handler. We receive this information to respond to your inquiry. It is not used for marketing or shared with third parties.

3. What We Do Not Collect

• No account information — there are no accounts
• No email addresses (unless you voluntarily provide one via the contact form)
• No IP addresses are stored (they may appear in server logs temporarily)
• No video files — video streams directly between peers, never through our servers
• No device fingerprints or browser profiles
• No location data

4. Video and Audio

All video and audio is streamed peer-to-peer using WebRTC. Your video data goes directly from the host's browser to each guest's browser. Our server handles only signaling (room management, chat relay, and sync commands) and never sees, stores, or processes your media.

In rare cases where a direct peer-to-peer connection cannot be established (e.g., strict network firewalls), Cloudflare TURN may relay the video stream. The relay is temporary and does not store any data.

5. Analytics

We use two analytics tools to understand how the Service is used:

Google Analytics

Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data such as page views, session duration, and general demographic information. This data is processed by Google and is subject to Google's privacy policy. Google Analytics may set cookies on your device.

Microsoft Clarity

Microsoft Clarity records session behavior such as clicks, scrolls, and navigation patterns to help us improve the user experience. Clarity may collect data such as mouse movements and page interactions. This data is processed by Microsoft and is subject to Microsoft's privacy policy.

6. Cookies

PartyStream does not set any cookies directly. However, the analytics services listed above (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) may set cookies on your device for session tracking and analytics purposes. These third-party cookies are governed by the respective privacy policies of those services.

7. Data Retention

Display names and chat messages are held in server memory only for the duration of your session. When a room closes or the server restarts, all session data is permanently deleted. Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we handle. All communication between your browser and our server uses HTTPS. Video streams are encrypted end-to-end via WebRTC's built-in encryption (DTLS-SRTP).

9. Children's Privacy

PartyStream does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The Service does not require accounts or collect personal data. Parents or guardians should supervise minors' use of the Service, as the video content streamed by other users is not moderated.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
